Faces

Let's talk about faces. In doing this experiment a couple of things stood out to me
1. I started to look for faces in everything. Then I started to think: What makes a face? I believe that society or humans in general have this concept of what a face is. Even in Startrek, when we think about the "aliens" they encountered, all of them had some sort of resemblance to human bodily characteristics. We have to have eyes to see, a nose to breathe, skin to feel and arms/legs/body to touch and move. Even in Lord Of The Rings when the trees developed eyes, a mouth, a nose and the branches became their limbs.

I think we assume that if we ever encountered a real alien that we can communicate verbally, by signals or by telepathy....but it would be something we can understand or that we can relate to.

Also, I realise that my concept of faces, even though bound by the societal concepts, also has a sense of freedom in that e.g. a face doesnt have to be round, or have a nose, or a mouth or even be human-like. I hope I'm making sense. Let's take Wall-E or Transformers for instance...the earlier drawings for the Transformers had their faces looking more humanoid than recently. Basically what I'm saying is that movies like these open our minds to new concepts ...things we wouldn't normally pick up on.

My QRCode Social Media trail

So for class tomorrow we were supposed to use QR codes and make some sort of trail or map. I decided to use a different approach and make an e-trail of my social media websites. You have to download a QR Code scanner on you iPhone or Smartphone for this to work....so stupid. I had to download one for my Blackberry called i-nigma. I downloaded it using Blackberry App World. I made my own QR Code using:

You can use the code to "embed" all sorts of information!

Spectacular Mega-Public Space

Seats have conveniently been placed around Times Square so persons can sit and observe.

Described as an 'ever changing theater set, with both fixed and temporary elements'

'world class public space' because of the number of people this medium reaches as opposed to any other.

The function of this public space is to choreograph chaos.

Global audience..such as New Year's in Times Square. Perfect time to advertise or market products.

The seated audience are now also part of the screens content, therefore they are performers.

pedestrians are made to fit within marketing strategies...audience discipline.

NO engagement from public...it isn't encouraged: A more active participation than that of a mere spectator is limited to text messages that are also staged for consumption purposes or free events that promote specific goods sponsored by the district.
